Depression (Supportive Care) — Alongside Your Care, Not Instead of It
Living with low mood, low energy, or a loss of interest in things that used to matter can feel isolating, and it's not something willpower alone resolves. At Sayantika Wellness Centre, Dr. Nidhi Singhal offers acupuncture and supportive therapies aimed at easing some of the physical weight that often comes with depression -- poor sleep, fatigue, appetite changes -- always as a complement to proper mental health care, and never as a substitute for therapy, medication, or psychiatric support when those are needed. Understanding Depression (Supportive Care)
Low energy and persistent fatigue
A heavy, constant tiredness that doesn't lift with rest, often one of the first physical signs that accompanies low mood.
Sleep disturbance
Sleeping far more or far less than usual, or sleep that doesn't feel restorative even when hours are adequate -- closely tied to mood and energy levels.
Loss of interest and motivation
A noticeable pulling-away from activities, people, or routines that used to bring enjoyment or a sense of purpose.
Appetite and physical symptom changes
Reduced or increased appetite, unexplained aches, or a general sense of physical heaviness that often accompanies depressive episodes.
Frequently Asked Questions
What does "supportive care" mean for depression? +
It means acupuncture and related therapies are offered to help ease physical symptoms that often accompany depression -- poor sleep, fatigue, tension -- alongside your existing mental health care. It is not a treatment for depression itself and does not replace therapy, medication, or psychiatric support.
What are the signs someone might be dealing with depression? +
Persistent low mood or a flat, empty feeling most of the day, loss of interest in previously enjoyable activities, changes in sleep or appetite, fatigue, and difficulty concentrating, lasting most days for two weeks or more.
Can acupuncture treat depression? +
No. Depression is a medical and mental health condition that needs proper diagnosis and treatment from a qualified mental health professional or physician. Acupuncture and supportive therapies may help with associated physical symptoms like fatigue and sleep disruption, but they are not a treatment for depression itself.
How does Sayantika Wellness Centre support patients dealing with depression? +
Through acupuncture and acupressure aimed at easing fatigue, supporting better sleep, and reducing physical tension -- offered as a complement to, and never a replacement for, care from a mental health professional.
Is this a replacement for therapy, medication, or psychiatric care? +
No. If you are dealing with depression, please continue or seek care from a qualified mental health professional or physician. This service exists to support your physical well-being alongside that care, not to substitute for it.
If you are having thoughts of self-harm or suicide, or are in crisis, please contact a mental health professional, a trusted person, or a crisis helpline immediately. This is a genuine emergency situation and should not wait for a booked session.
Outlook
Depression is treatable, and support exists -- both through proper mental health care and, alongside it, through therapies that ease some of the physical burden that comes with it.
